Hey there! I'm Kelly the photographer behind this website.
My creative journey started 25 years ago when I had my first art class in middle school. I have always loved creating art, but never took it seriously until 4 years ago when I started a photography business. I used photography and my business to cope with postpartum depression and a new diagnosis with an autoimmune disease.
After four years of doing weddings and family photography I realized that’s not the avenue I wanted to continue on. My true passion for photography lies in photographing the outdoors and adventures we embark on.
What I Do
I like to call myself an artist who uses photography as my medium. I make photos tell a story by creating a series of work centered around nature.
I also love to help others cultivate their passion for this subject in photography with informative blog posts, workshops, classes and mentoring.
A Few Fun Facts
I have been involved with the Rising Tide Society for four years now, two as a patron and two as the local chapter co-leader in Sacramento.
My most recent gallery exhibit “Small Town” was featured at the Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom, California. You can find that series here.
I am mostly known for my creativity, realness and determination to make something happen. My lovely cousin says "I'm a doer" meaning if I say I am going to do something I take action.
Who I Like to Work With
I work with all ages, races and genders and I believe deeply that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. I desire to tell peoples stories in order to help them feel wanted, included and understood. We all just need a little understanding in our lives, am I right? I serve people who desire to be kind, laid back and don't take life too seriously.
Where I am Located
When I am not busy working on photography, you can find me playing with my son, tending to my chickens and planning my garden or writing. I live on two acres in Placerville, California where my dogs run wild and my son catches ladybugs. Placerville has been our home for nine years now and we love this little town. It's so close to everything. It takes us an hour to get to Tahoe and two hours to get to the beach. But for us we love the mountains more than the beach so that's where we go to have an adventure! One of our favorite adventures is seeing the Aspen trees turn yellow in the fall in Hope Valley.
