Ever wonder how labels are made for products? Don't worry I didn't either until I had the opportunity to photograph Capital Label Company. They're a local company based out of Rancho Cordova, California. They print labels for everything from quail eggs to cannabis in all different shapes and sizes.
I never really thought about the process until I experienced it first hand. It's interesting to see how it's done. (I often feel like Mike Rowe from dirty jobs when I photograph what people do for a living. I also get to learn something new and something I wouldn't have thought about before.) They use this large printer that's half digital and half mechanical so that they can use special ink such as gold shimmer or silver.
There were so many elements to this machine and small adjustments that needed to be made. You really have to understand how everything in it works from the ink to the placement. Sometimes it's trial and error trying to get it in the perfect spot.
While I was photographing that day they were printing labels for a local brewery Burning Barrel. Apparently that area of Ranch Cordova is also known for it's local craft brewers. Burning Barrel had a new design that was being printed for the crowler (it's half a growler in a can). Below is a few photos of the process.
Does your customer know how your product is made? If not, this is something that can influence a person's decision to buy from you. Like a lot of people I know I like to buy local and something sustainable. I would only know about these things if the business owner showcased this on their website. So as part of your branding session I can provide a behind-the-scenes look. If this interests you let me know by sending me an email and scheduling a free consultation to talk more about your brand's vision.
